If you want to change your installed SAP system’s “Instance Number” then you can follow the following steps…

For an example , our installed SAP system’s instance number is 00 and we want to change it to 01 ;

- STOP SAP system from SAPMMC window

– STOP Database

– STOP SAP Service

– Delete SID from SAPMMC window

– Change DVEBMGS00 to DVEBMGS01

– Change profile name SID_DVEBMGS00_servername to SID_DVEBMGS01_servername

– Find and Replace SID_DVEBMGS00_servername to SID_DVEBMGS01_servername in all profile files

– Change SAPSYSTEM=00 to SAPSYSTEM=01 in Instance Profile

– Change INSTANCE_NAME=DVEBMGS00 to INSTANCE_NAME=DVEBMGS01 in Instance Profile

– Change sapmsSID 3600/tcp to 3601/tcp in services file

- Go to under SAP Executables directory

– SAPstartsrv -t to Uninstall SAP Service

– SAPstartsrv -t to Install SAP Service

– START SAP system from SAPMMC window

– START Database

– START SAP Service
