SAP has announced an extension for support for legacy systems for certain customers who sign up for specific ERP cloud migration deals.
This applies to customers using its Business Suite 7 (BS7) applications like SAP ECC 6.0. Originally, SAP planned to end mainstream support by 2025, but it extended this to 2027 and offered extended support until 2030. Now, it is offering an additional option, “SAP ERP, private edition, transition option,” for companies with complex IT landscapes, which will extend the support until 2033. This extension is not a general change to the original deadlines but is designed for a small number of large customers with challenging transitions.
SAP’s “SAP ERP, private edition, transition option” is designed to provide a solution for large companies with complex IT infrastructures. It helps organizations manage their transition to SAP S/4HANA more flexibly.
Key Features:
1. Extended Support Duration: With this option, companies can receive support for their legacy systems for a longer period. The support can be extended until 2033.
2. Customized Transition: Companies with complex IT landscapes can create a more tailored transition plan. This provides additional time and allows them to overcome challenges during the
migration process.
3. Flexibility: This solution offers large organizations more flexibility in planning their migration strategy. It allows companies to optimize their current applications before fully
migrating to the new system.
4. Special Investment Requirements: Since this transition option is aimed at larger companies, it typically requires more significant investments and customized solution needs.
Therefore, it is not recommended for every customer.
SAP aims to help large-scale enterprises overcome the challenges they face during the transition to S/4HANA with this solution. It enables companies to manage the migration process with more time and resource flexibility.
